Being a Perth fitness fanatic and a fan of shaking things up, I’ve giving everything from Bikram Yoga and Pole Dancing to Fitness Circuits and Bodybuilding a go. Training throughout Perth has provided me with the most amazing opportunity to discover completely new ways of staying fit, using my body and reinvigorated my training when I’ve hit those frustrating lulls.
Some of my experiences have been amazing, whilst others simply weren’t for me. But for all the experience I’ve had, there are definitely a few favourites which stand out loudly in my mind.
Below is a list of my top 5 recommendations based on all of my Perth fitness experiences throughout the years that I’m happy to back and recommend any Perthie gives a go.
Re-Boot Fitness is a boutique studio based in Mount Hawthorn. Run by Michael and Luke, Re-Boot Fitness’ circuits are a must try for everyone from those new to fitness and those who have been training for years. They offer a wide range of services from Personal Training to Mums & Bubs classes.
The two boys outside of the box approach to fitness is what gives their circuits that something special. The relationship the boys build with their clients is second to none, and it shows. Every circuit is uniquely developed for their attending clients, with options from beginner, more advanced or clients with special requirements such as injuries, medical conditions or pregnancy.
I’ve seen them train all of the above, and watched them get the absolute most out of every single client, including myself, a girl who has finally found a type of cardio I’m willing and even excited to take on!
Ringfit Boxing & Fitness offers a wide range of classes including Boxing, Muay-Thai, Fighting Fitness, Bootcamp and Personal Training as well as offering a fully equipped boutique weights/cardio studio for use during the day. Run by Dan and James, their experience and passion for boxing comes through in everything they do and allows them to train everyone from first time beginners to advanced boxers preping to compete.
Their care for their clients shows. Their Boxing Skills classes, which focuses on boxing technique, and Boxing Fitness classes, which focus on serious fitness, are leagues ahead of the rest and worth giving a try.
If you’ve ever wanted to give boxing or boxing style training a go, Ringfit is the place to go. The boys and clients will welcome you with open arms and make sure you’re getting fit and having fun all at the same time.
The new kid on the block, Muscle Universe is a gym based in Malaga and has a lot of people already talking about it. It’s an amazing space full of free weights, dumbbells that reach up to 70kgs, state of the art Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment, as well as plenty of cardio machines, pin-loaded and cable machines and lifting platforms.
What makes Muscle Universe that much more special is there in-house Personal Trainer Damon. With more than 15 years of experience, and with arms the size of my thighs -no joke, Damons approach to training and his clients is amazing. His list of credentials and experience ranges from being a certified strength and conditioning coach with the ability to train advanced clients with hypertrophy, strength, powerlifting and competition prep, to being a chef with a Bachelor in Nutrition meaning he is able to help his clients and new comers reach their fitness goals through training and proper nutrition that suits their individual lifestyles, wants and needs.
He not only has an amazing rapport with each of his clients, but is able to provide exclusive first class training to help his clients not only reach but exceed their goals.
Box and Bike at Queen St Gym offers 45 minute fitness classes incorporating high intensity intervals of BoxMaster Boxing and Spin Bike Cycling as well as a functional training area and a replica of Muhammad Ali’s boxing ring available as a venue hire along with a bar/mingling area.
With cranking music and attentive trainers, the Box and Bike classes offer a unique style of training you simply won’t find elsewhere. The trainers keep you motivated whilst ensuring your technique is sound and making sure you get the most out of your workout.
Anyone looking to shake up their usual training routine or struggling to find an enjoyable for exercise needs to give Box & Bike a go, it’s extremely fun but at the same time will definitely leave you reaching for the sweat towel.
Having just reopened since it’s closure in February, Jacob’s Ladder is not only a Perth icon, but one of Perth’s most popular, free, outdoor fitness areas frequented by fitness enthusiasts and first timers alike.
The 242-step structure is a challenging set of stairs that will leave your legs burning more than any boring old stair-master in the gym. It’s ideal for fitness and offers amazing views of the Swan River and Perth City whilst you walk, run or crawl your way up and down the stairs.
It’s a Perth must-try, and is definitely worth a visit at least once if you’ve never done it… just remember to always keep left.
Do you have any other favourite Perth Fitness Must Trys? Let me know, because I’d love to hear about them and maybe even give them a go myself!
